SCLMM MISSION GIFT FUND

Definition:  The dictionary gives as one of the definitions of mission a local church or parish dependent on a larger religious organization for financial support.  Gift is defined as “something voluntarily transferred from one person to another without compensation.  This is exactly what the South Carolina Lutheran Men in Mission Gift Fund Program is all about.

Goal: The Mission Gift Fund disburses the monetary gifts of $35,000.00 or more, depending on the donations, between mission congregations in South Carolina.  The Board of American Missions of the South Carolina Synod makes recommendations on the amount to be given to selected mission congregations.  Please note that there are now Five developing congregations in the SC Synod.  This is more than any other synod within the ELCA at any one time.  God’s Mission is surely GROWING in South Carolina. The newest developing church is Cristo Del Ray, West Columbia, SC and was started in 2008, is worshiping at St. David's and received $2,500.00 as a start up gift.

SCLMM MISSION GIFT FUND REPORT 2007

This report is full of Faith, Caring, Desire, and GivingFaith, because without it, the Mission Gift Fund would not be able to accomplish its mission.  Caring, because of the hundreds of men and women that care enough and desire to see the word of the Lord disseminated to all who desire it or need it in South Carolina.  Giving, because each year the hundreds and thousands of wonderful Lutheran men and women give to ensure that God’s Mission continues to grow through the South Carolina Mission Churches.

We all know that the SCLMM has been a cornerstone in the development of mission congregations for many years. Now that the Synod has assumed full responsibility for Mission Churches, the SCLMM is truly a key factor in the future of Outreach and Mission Development in the South Carolina Synod.  This is the time for all congregations to step up and become a Mission Partner with our newest Mission Churches
