Purpose of South Carolina Lutheran Men in Mission South Carolina Lutheran Men in Mission is an auxiliary of the South Carolina Synod consisting of congregational units, regional conferences, and individuals (including laymen and rostered leaders) joined together in mission to improve the spiritual and intellectual development and discipleship based on a commitment to Jesus Christ and participation in the life of His Church.
Objectives
To provide financial support for the development of mission congregations in the South Carolina Synod through the New Mission Start Fund, the Gift Fund, the Loan Fund, and the Segelken Fund. To provide opportunities to make disciples of men by sponsoring gatherings, local congregational meetings, regional (conference) meetings, and Bible Studies.
To support Lutheran Men in Mission (ELCA) by the giving of time, talents, and money to support a strong church-wide men’s ministry.
Specific Goals
That each Lutheran Man in the South Carolina Synod read at least one chapter of the Bible per day. See SCLMM President’s Recommended Bible Readings chart for 2010. Continued financial support for the Five Mission Churches (Faith [Pickens], Cristo Rey [West Columbia], Breath of Life [Blythewood], Crossroads [Indianland], Manatial de Vida [north of Columbia]). Charter or reactivate nine (9) congregational SCLMM Units (i.e.. one per Conference). Increase Outstanding Unit Awards to 22. Encourage meetings of nearby SCLMM groups or the formation of clusters in Conferences covering large geographical areas. Encourage renewed participation by rostered Synod leaders in SCLMM meetings and activities.
